in response to Admin's response to my thread in the IR forum
Admin wrote:Movement is fine, but when you cast wards they affect enemy troops and therefore count as mission actions.
In addition I would disagree with the similarity to Layne Yrs blockade.
The player playing Layne Yr, posted her blockade to start a discussion that would lead to a mission.
In this case you are responding to an event. And trying to counter attack a location that is already a future mission as designated in the related thread in the Independent Corporations thread.
This is more similar to Deers followup blockade.
With that said by allowing you to move Quall into position with support gear and weapons I would also have to allow Ryuks allies to move into position as well.So I leave it in your hands
If you want to begin troop deployment and battle prep please do so and
I will advise the TRILAT that they may begin deployment as well.
If you would like to discuss this further OOC please post specific questions in the Questions section.
Narrator note- The thread in IC was designed to create a roleplaying moment between Ryuk and TNI, which let us be honest TNI has no reason to bother negotiating knowing a Quall Army is coming to rescue him.
I disagree with your interpretation, the reason why the Sanguine Lords are even there is because they jumped into an energy bridge that if you remember my mission post was suppose to be designed to drag in all hostiles into Kyrpos as to trap them. Ergo it makes perfect sense that I would have forces approach the area quickly and in mass.
Besides Ryuk has 5 Sanguine Lords 100 Million Quall would be needed to even hold them back considering that your standard Beacon city soldier can easily handle several Quall themselves.
Also, considering that we are on Kyrpos the idea that Ryuk can just as easily move units in place as the Quall are silly. You might as well place this event in Ryuk's casino and tell him that his local security cannot approach the group without giving the Quall the opportunity to deploy as well.
Might as well say that the Unity, Kasanth, and the EEF can go there to. They would have an easier time getting there then Ryuk's forces. So yes, I will put my forces in there, as it makes perfect sense for me to do so. I lost 5 valuable Red Fist commandos and there are 5 enemy units there who can each wipe out several thousand Quall each in under a minute. I picked the number 100 million because lets face it any less and the threat against the Sanguine Lords would be laughable. I mean when a pair of these could pay ping pong with Falos then one has to take precautions.
So in response to me he can bring in his 10 other Sanguine Lords, and in response i will have to bring in a billion Quall just to survive.
Also as to the last part, as in if there is an army of Quall there TNI won't have to worry about negotiating. Well that is a perk given by befriending the Quall and then being stuck on their home dimension. Without the Quall there he would have no negotiating power as lets face it, the Sanguine Lords are so powerful they don't need to negotiate. They can move against him and he can do jack shit to counter them, so any action they do that isn't "grab Twain and do what they want with him" is just Ryuk being nice

That would have been fine if you could have posted your warding of the island and the movement of the 100 Million Quall in the mission you refer to.
As you didn't expect the Sanguine Lords (which is good because it wasn't metagamed), you didn't have a defensive plan.
From my perspective the Sanguine Lord stat wise (5 of them) would have wiped the floor with your Quall Red Fists, the Cultists with them, the TRIDENT, Twain Terranovsky, his crew, his trident, the assassin and returned with them before your army would have been able to arrive (since it wasn't there already).
Just as you could now move in Quall warriors, a single Sanguine Lord can make a Unity Shadow Satellite (1 combat round to create), and allow an entire Unity Fleet to warp in. Or better yet warp in a Purifier.
Just as Twain has the Quall as an ally, so does Ryuk have the Unity.
Just as your Quall respond to your Queen's mental commands immediately (and communicate as quickly), so does the Unity and as Ryuk and his Sanguine Lords are Unity members.
However I thought it would be interesting storyline wise, to see an interaction between Ryuk and TNI and how their actions converged in a moment.
Then if it really came to arms, a mission was already planned for battle.
Then you get to make your action, and so does everyone else.

They're not. But its not my job to point out enemy weaknesses to you guys.
Re: in response to Admin's response to my thread in the IR forum
My only question is are there actually 100 million Quall or not? Regardless, I'll be negotiating since Twain is quite literally the spark that could set off a 3 way war.

There could be, but there isn't... yet. That's my interpretation. If you want to play hard ball in the land of the Quall N'Drone, with a player like a Hive Queen behind you, go ahead. Be a bad ass, or pee your pants. Its up to you.
Personally, I would have just sent a communication to Twain saying that I could have millions of Quall at your side in a moments notice. Give the guy a chance to role play his choice. Perhaps he wants to be taken to their leader. Talk to the man himself, and then of course whip out a hidden blade, slice Ryuk in two, flash out a EMP, reveal himself to be a weapon of mass destruction and destroy the planet of Merduk with pure rage. Just saying.

Thank you sir.
Go ahead and say that you "know"(hope) that millions of Quall will move in on this position. You don't know their load out or their plans, but you know your clients are coming for you. And they will come in force.
And now "Aryay" Please feel free to make your decision. The ball is in your court. If you want to escalate, I will allow the TRILAT an early escalation as well. Both can set up but no firing until the mission. And if warding is allowed, then I will have to allow warding for both sides.
Narrator Note- In any case this would be a one time rules mod for this situation only.

Do something cool.
And I agree with the full sentiment of the original statement.
Re: in response to Admin's response to my thread in the IR forum
My GOD, these Lords a neigh unstoppable! One of these days I am actually going to have to look up the stats and capabilities of these things!
I took ten more because they survived the EMP blast. I like playing a naive character, and not looking things up tends to help with that, and sometimes I am really surprised at what I have!
This is going to be fun!

If I remember correctly, Unity went to the admin and said. "Hey, I want a capitol ship the size of a person."
In walks the Sanguine Lord. Think heavy capitol ship with fighter compliments. That is what you sent on this mission. 5... Heavy... Capitol... Ships...

...Against one highly motivated Earther Immutable who is quite possibly the most curious non-djinni being in the known universe. I'm sorry Ryuk, your Sanguine Lords are over matched in every way possible.

Don't let yourself get too carried away with that feeling of invulnerability. Admin lets the Unity make ridiculous units but everything in the game has multiple weaknesses. Everyone thought the Manslayers were unstoppable but one pissed off technomagi stopped their unified expansion. Every character, being and ship has several weaknesses, you just have to think your way around to them. That said the Sanguine Lords are bloody ridiculous in an extremely perverse kind of a way.

There are many reasons to not use sanguine lords in all but the most dire of circumstances. Beyond narrative rules governing the power of ninjas, one must also consider what happens when sanguine lords are unhappy with their commander.

If a sanguine lord got hit with zela dust (Like the sort that 5th fleet was packing in its hollow points) would it act like a poison and drive the thing to constantly kill as it tries to hold itself together? Because while that would suck, having something that powerful going on a crazy killing spree would be fairly epic.

Thank GOD for that! I haven't had a lot of the commanders of the TRILAT post for the upcoming mission with TNI and that was concerning me!

Did you honestly think that would be an issue? TTILAT members love to show up in missions that don't even concern them, no way the rest of your crew doesn't show up and try to snatch one immutable earther. BTW, I'm standing by my previous statement. Your sentient weapons of mass destruction have no chance against my well motivated immutable Earther!
