Research Boons?

I know some of us have a long laundry list of Research to conduct and not all of it is actually new gear and ships. Now that we have seen the rise of production boons, which are way better then straight gifts in my opinion, will we see the rise of research boons perhaps? Maybe only usable on non-gear related research?

That would be correct there will be research rewards, as well as other non-traditional rewards coming down the pipeline for certain missions.

Production and research boosts will be mission specific so only certain missions will provide them.
And each bonus will be unique as to how the bonus is applied.
