Childeen watched as the Neliff's corpse was taken out of the ice. It was laid flat in what its handlers assumed was a comfortable position. They backed out of the room. On the otherside a lightly armed dred mek stood silently. Childeen hoped and prayed that the neliff couldn't hot wire circuits the way they did brains.
The lead scientist stood next to the diminutive bastard. Excitedly he issued the command to revive the Neliff. "We spend the past several days detailing every aspect of its anatomy. This creature is magnificent in every way!"
The dredmek inserted the nanite syringe and soon the Neliff rose slowly from the floor to a few feet off the ground its tentacles dragging lethargically.
Akrea, Blackheart Securities CFO and general naysayer, stood next to Childeen holding print outs, she was dressed in an impeccable suit looking stern yet beautiful. "Did you know this place cost as much as an IR interdictor, and made it so we had to turn down the banking guilds offer to DOUBLE our fighter fleet?"
Childeen nodded staring at the screen, "If this pans out it will be worth it. How many corporations in the galaxy can say they have telepaths?" He asked pointedly.
The Scientist spoke up apprehensively, "Sir, there is a problem with that."
There was always a problem Childeen thought, he looked over and Akrea was giving him a vindicated smirk, no doubt he would never hear the end of this one. "Lets hear it." He said stoically.
"Sir, well, like I said the Neliff are magnificent creatures. Most of their physiology is based on producing neon for its bouyancy sacks." The scientest paused, "That much neon in a human, or really any carbon based living creatures brain, would be catostrophic."
"So no horde of psychic spies for you Childeen." Akrea announced with a chuckle.
"We will follow an alternate research plan then." Childeen noted.
