As per the treaty, the worlds on E-strain space that the Unity has sterilized now have no Unity presence to speak of. They are barren wastelands where all life has been extinguished. The plants have withered to dust, the wildlife are mere bones. Even local bacteria have been forever wiped from these worlds. The scale of destruction is immense, and some claim that the worlds will forever be haunted by their own ghosts.

The Iron Republic, forever driven by profit, has considered what to do with the planets. Some of the more resource-rich worlds have already been claimed by the Iron Republic with boarder colonies, but it has been found that a number of the planets have been stripped of all resources by the prolific E-strain. Stockholders are at somewhat of a loss as to use these stripped planets which lack any resources to justify the massive investment of traditional dome-colonies. They have reached out to other nations/corps for proposals.

What would you do to make these planets profitable?

This investment mission is open to all players. The stockholders will take the best ideas and use them to develop the new worlds. Keep in mind that the 14 stripped worlds have no natural metal resources or life. They are in Iron Republic space, and subject to Iron Republic laws...though as border worlds enforcement can be a little lax...

Stark had stolen alot of memories from alot of targets. Errr...people. Yes people, with thoughts and dreams and hopes and a gooey, gooey brainstem. That tastes great as a chaser for shots of the Synthetic Alcohol the Iron Republic allowed the Brethren to kill their own braincells with.
Another memory, taken from a non-Immutable Epsilon Brethren out on Center Station.

Polaris was so beautiful that day.

Back to reality, the reality of so many worlds in need of a significant overhaul. Some were little more than dust bowls, with every important nutrient removed from the planet.

Therefore sterilized colonist manure from nearby I.R. Colonies must be shipped into these dustbowls. The soil must be churned up with this sterilized manure. Then and only then the seeds of gripping plants, especially trees will be installed. In a few generations this planet will now be habitable again. In the meantime, easy minimal-intervention crops like wild grains, sunflowers and hemp could be grown and maintained by a small fleet of micro-mekanoids. Solar powered and self repairing, these cherub meks can run without intervention for one thousand years. A few hundred could turn the technically empty worlds into edens in a few decades of care. From a Board of Directors Point of View, it benefits them with the small stipend the planet can pay in usable crops which can be quickly turned around by direct sale to the Banking Guild.

Any planets with no hope of reclamation in this way should be used as autonomous Cloning Worlds. Build miles of cloning vats and pump out everything from Brethren to Cloned horses, cows and sheep. Sell the animal clones on the greymarket to neighboring worlds in both IR and neutral territories.

A few sections should be used for refining Giant cloned monsters. Stark mused as he imagined the WarGiants he would construct for the Iron Republic were they to give him a world to do it.

Stripped and empty worlds? Su laughed, "No problem."

He wrote his report. His report was in-depth, but he created a summary page for the purpose of his summation:

"Resourcefulness without Resources.
Three Primary Possibilities that I suggest we do either independently and in conjunction with each other.

1) Intergalactic Intellectual Consortium studies: How can you use planets that were once habitable but have no viable resources and proverbially resurrect them? The Unity has their own devices, the Oleifera have theirs. How can we use what we have, without using Domes, to regenerate life on a planet? The economic benefit would be to see what type of vegetation can grow on these planets, and what agricultural products can be generated that are distinctive to those on other planets?

2) Trade hubs: In accordance to the recent treaties, it might behoove all interested parties to create neutral trade hubs that can be regulated by IRLCs within Iron Republic territory but have a more varied social life that many outside the Iron Republic would find more amenable and to their taste. These hubs can work hand in hand with efforts from the IIC to "reclaim" a planet while actual trade takes place, thus giving these planets something else to do while research takes place. Since there are no natural resources on these planets, the only purpose they'd serve is to bring disparate territories together, in trade and culturally. Importantly, these planets must not be able to serve as military standposts and not have military value. Otherwise, varying territories might want to conquer them, defeating the purpose of the cultural and economic exercise.

3) Alternate living environments: Terraform a planet, however long it takes, knowing fully well that it will never have some of the vital resources required for advanced life and/or civilization, such as metal. The people who live on the planet will then be forced to live as our ancient ancestors did hundreds of years ago. There are variable possibilities: a different type of penal colony/exile colony, a different type of tourism, and modern day "hippie" communes. Depending on who and what you are, the location on said planet would vary and whether or nor you are charged. Furthermore, it may be interesting to see what other sentient and semisentient life would do on these planets, i.e. Tzira.

The cost/benefit analysis is inconclusive for these ideas. However, the research possibilities that are both intentional and unintentional may very well be priceless."

Su sighed as he finished his report. Pipe dreams, maybe, but its probably better than what his fellow stockholders and/or Iron Republic lackeys would have in mind.
