It would be an honor to begin your training in diplomacy and the mutual IR Quall treaties.

I like surprises seeing how we are of a hive mind mind surprises are rare among my kind.

Surprises, said Palomedes as he scratched his beard.

Then he noticed a security update from his portable command computer.

"Ok surprises, we have a Grey Fleet moving through the Brethren Expanse. So I might as well start with the Grey," said Palomedes, "Not all Grey are actually grey, some are blue-grey, some are green-grey, some are even purple-grey. They have an indecipherable government, and will not allow any Humans or Quall in their presence or to learn anything about them.
They hate Quall but have made a treaty with IR-Quall Leadership.
The rules of that treaty are as follows, in order of importance not order in which its shown in the original treaty which is 3,500 pages long.

1. Any planet or solar system designated Grey may never be entered by non-grey vessels. Ever.
2. Any vessel who breaks rule 1 is destroyed and all crew granted final death.
3. The Grey do not "trade" therefore any Grey tech found in IR space is stolen and must be returned without pause to the Grey Embassy on Mars. (Exception to this is Grey Tech in the hands of the Banking Guild. All Banking Guild grey tech has a certificate of authenticity showing it does not have to be sent back to the grey.)
4. It is illegal to attempt to reverse engineer Grey technology under IR law. (Even though sub corporations try and fail all the time. Exception to this rule is tech IR has developed independently like Zero Point Drives and Em Forcefields.)
5. In the event the Grey are threatened by someone or something in IR space they have full rights to attack it and destroy it without IR interference and without breaking the rule of the treaty.
If IR ships are in the way, the Grey will expeditiously disable them without fear of reprisal.
6. The Grey may not simply take new colonies from IR space but must request their "purchase" from the IR board.
7. Their pre-existing colonies of Grey may never be blockaded or otherwise inhibited by IR Quall activities.
8. The Grey will Not attempt to interfere in how the IR runs its own colonies, colonial citizens, including and not limited to Quall implantation.
9. The Grey will never deploy technology designed to remove larval aliens (most especially Quall)
10. Escape pods and other life raft that accidentaly drift into Grey territories will be dragged back out by Grey Survey Ships and left in empty space at least two systems away with a locator distress beacon.

There are a lot of additional notes and laws but none are as important as the ones above.
They keep the Grey in their isolated colonies, while we have conquered most of known space.
If you do work with a Grey at any point, Hive Queen, keep in mind they do not call themselves the Grey . That is how we classify them."
