Week 6 - The Return of the Body of Alice Clegg Empty Week 6 - The Return of the Body of Alice Clegg

Post  Admin Tue Jun 14, 2011 3:50 am

Captain Grant led the charge the way the Lions do. He and his heavy squad took the lead in a highly efficient rolling T formation. They blasted or kicked over the pathetic obstacles they found. The Lions plasma weapons easily tore through the bodies of the E-strain that charged them down the wide halls of Alice Clegg’s Flagship.

The other squad provided a rear guard to ensure no ambushes occurred, and they were equally pressed by Manslayers. At least the plasma spray cooked them away, so there weren’t piles of crab bodies piling up.

Terex and his squad of STRIKE Operators moved inside the rolling meat shield of death that was the heavy lions. The obstacles they encountered were usually stacked furniture and crates, though what did you expect from a bunch of in debt gamblers turned untrained “combat engineers.” But it was the Manslayers who leapt from ducts and rooms with the ferocity, of well, a Manslayer, that truly threatened the teams.

His squad and him tried to block the uplinks of the rabble they found, hopefully breaking their morale and causing them to flee or surrender. If they did the latter they would be quickly ziptied and left for the marines to grab. But it was rare that they came across the Rabble.

Ryuk’s Rabble were lightly armed and armored and were no match for the heavily armed and disciplined Lions, and Blackheart, And the ferocity of the Uloh.

MSgt. Timmons, one of the only magnavore to finish the Special Forces Crash course, followed the Lions of Earth and the BlackHeart Security people thru the ship. He had order Uloh M239992 to link into the Bloomships commsystems and offer the Estrain a deal.

It had taken some negotiating, and M239992 was an amazing negotiator. Finally as the dead piled up the Manslayers agreed to call off their attacks on them.
They even would aid the EEF forces in gaining the corpse of Alice Clegg if the Uloh would offer them asylum. M239992 was also supposed to attempt to send a message to DPrisoner00200 letting him know of the Toxin to kill his larva if he would switch sides. So far their negotiations hadn’t gone as well.

Timmons was unsure how well the offer to DPrisoner would go over. The Toxin was a closely gaurded secret. If he hadn't been briefed on it to offer to the IR for use on Alice Clegg, he doubted that he would have been given clearence to even know of it.

Timmons thought "At least if everything goes south, TechSgt Johannson has the bag of BrainBombs. Gods, i hate the headache those damn things cause, but those greenhorn KFed-Unity punks have never felt that kind of feedback before, should just Screw the Pooch on their day."

He had the Manslayers running guard on Johannson with the lamia Prepared to gun down anything that looked like it would get in behind them.

"Now, to see if these Humies are as good as they think they are," he muttered under his breath as he keep listening to the chatter of the Ships mind.

In a nearby hallway seven brave Colonial Marines of the EEF 5th Fleet held their ground. Piles of Manslayers were shoulder high around them. Their PDRs were only effective when they tossed EMP grenades first so they made sure the Estrain were packed tight.
Then all of a sudden the attack stopped and all Estrain with drew.
They continued their patrol, checking in at predetermined intervals.

As they passed the docking bay, they ran into a Brethren in a supersized set of power armor. On its back was a live nuke reactor. In its hands were a Vulcan Cannon.
At that moment something ruptured the hull, everything was pulled towards the holes, except the Colonial marines and the Brethren Drop Trooper.
They both engaged their magnetic boots and their suits pressurized. The Brethren Drop Trooper didn’t seem to mind the loss of pressure at all.
As the multibarreled weapon spun up, the Colonial marines moved with military precision. Three tossed their EMP Grenades at the same time. The EMPs disrupted the armor’s magnetic boots, causing the suit to begin to hover.

The remaining Colonial Marines used their PDRs not to pierce the armor, but to force it out the breach in the docking bay.

As the Brethren Drop trooper struggled to deploy his magnetic grapple he finally hooked a single antenna line. He began to reel himself in as he noticed Beacon City Space suits moving across the surface of Captain Clegg’s Flagship.

The Nano-fusion Sages were cutting large holes in the hull.
As the Drop Trooper looked off in the distance, he could see his Brethren backups setting up the charges at either end. With the extra vents the ship was now going to breach spectacularly. The Drop Trooper just hoped his suit didn’t breach during the explosion.

Outside the Beacon city soldiers were gunning down Manslayers with a combination of sniper shots and Leyas attacks. But inside, Ryuk, his Rabble and the Prisoner were all fleeing towards their own assault shuttle. They were being chased by a pack of warped mutants, creatures broken by Quall into human hunting dogs. Their horns were thick and sharp.

So far Ryuk and the Prisoner had escaped with the assassins hot on their trail. It had only been the reports directly into Ryuk’s Unity uplink that saved his life and helped him escape his potential captors. The Praetorians had whispered about the Knight of Fate saving them during a battle, and for the first time Lt. Ryuk understood why the Infamous Captain Axis had been given such a role. He seemed moments ahead of every attack, and his uplink allowed it to go directly to Ryuk preparing him. Captain Axis even warned Ryuk when the EEF ship arrived at a nearby docking bay. They stopped and began backtracking to a different escape pod.

The New Vorik assault shuttle settled against the hull of the ship with a muted clang. The dull whooshing sound of plasma torches filled the troop compartment as he and his men did a final check on their gear. "Alright, what are we doing here, Washington?" he asked the goliath to his right.
"We're here to use these trap guns," he held one up, "to make sure that this bucket won't be going anywhere and to make sure that nothing is hiding in the shadows." Shiro nodded.
"Right, and why do we care Ker'ian?" he inquired of the ki'orn goliath to his left.
"This was Alice Clegg's flagship. She's dead and the TRILAT has the body but Blackheart and the Lions want it and the Field Marshall wants us to back them up and get it." Shiro grinned and toothy grin that exposed his tusk like incisors. "Correct," He looked at the goliath next to her, Cole, who was in the midst of cranking his assualt spring shot which he was carrying in addition to the usual acid weapons. "Where are starting our warding and what do we do after its done, Cole?"
"We start by warding the engine room and then we move to meet up with the Lions, Blackheart and UFC troops already on board. If things go well the Unity will run whatever tests it wants and turn the body over so we can get out of here. Shiro nodded. "And why are you two gentlemen with us?" He called back toward two warg armored oni's.
"To cover you if the manslayers on board decide they want to keep their boss." One answered over his armor's external speakers.
"We're also supposed to secure compartments while you ward them." replied the second oni, who hadn't buttoned her armor up yet.
The jump light went from red to yellow. That meant the saws were almost through. Shiro stood up and grabbed his weapons. "I almost forgot, Wulf," he called back to a k'iou who was almost at wide at the shoulders as he was tall. "What happens if this all goes to hell?" Wulf spat a wad of chew into an empty ration can.
"That depends on how far to hell they go. The shuttle will stay here buttoned up so we can fall back to it if we have to. If we get spaced we have darkside rings so we can breath outside if that happens or we're to far away everyone except the tin men have emergency energy bridges back to the fleet. I guess they'll just have to stick close to us." He concluded with a wicked grin at the power armored soldiers. One of them flipped him off which he found no end of humor in. Shiro rolled his neck and shoulders. The Q&A session was a common pre mission ritual for him. He liked to know that the people with knew their business and could take care of it if he went down. The green light pulsed rapidly for a few seconds then stayed on solid green.
"Lets move," He called over his shoulder as he strode forward and undogged the hatch.
Shiro was surprised to see the EEF 5th fleet Marines waiting for them. They had secured the docking bay.
He signaled for them to fall in and continued their march deeper into Captain Clegg’s Flagship.

Meanwhile the Red Fists of Le-a HiveQueen battered and beat away the Mutant Technobroken who acted like living speed bumbs. The Red Fists tore through them, but it bought the escaping men precious moments. Finally the Red Fist Commandos faced one of Annihilator Goo Warriors who served Captain Axis. It annihilated one of them with a shot to a Red Fist’s head, only to be battered into deadly submission by the Brain Fevers cast by the remaining Red Fists.
As the goo warrior simply dribbled into a puddle, it dripped down and half of it escaped into a nearby vent pulling its weapons with it.
The other half had been cooked away by the Incinerators of the Red Fist Power Armor.

The Unity scientists had scanned the body, taking what info they thought they could. Those same Unity Scientists were slaughtered to a man by the Red Fist Commandos who then incinerated their bodies. The Unity wondered if they knew the data had already left them traveling up the Unity uplink to the rest of the connected. The data was intriguing.
The death of the Unity scientists was concerning.

The deaths of the TRILAT guards had at least bought enough time for Ryuk to lead the Prisoner to a shuttle. Ryuk watched him enter the strange Semi-organic Shuttlepod, turning back to retake this ship.

The First assassin crept forward, using the stealthy techniques he was taught during his long training he brought up one of his throwing knives. He thrust his arm forward into his own shadow the hand sticking up from his target's shadow as he let go of the knife it flew straight toward its intended target. The knife wouldn't be enough to bring down the victim but it didn't need to. It was designed to collapse any leyas shields protecting the victim and if it hit the enemy would be vulnerable to other attack.

The Second retreated to the entrance and brought out his Artificed sniper rifle, an excellently crafted weapon from the vaults of Fort Lendil, a shame the man thought, if he had that perfect round that Fort Lendil used this would be over quite fast, but sadly that would kill far more then his target. He took aim, slowly exhaling as he pulled the trigger from his prone position just as he was taught, there was nothing else, only him, his rifle and his target. If the throwing knife connected this shot should injure the target making them weak, this shot wasn't meant to kill just slow the enemy down.

The third assassin was creeping toward the wall, with the knife thrown and the shot fired he leaped through his own shadow. Popping out from the targets own after the knife thrower removed his hand he brought his blow gun to his lips and blew the dart forward into the body of the target. The dart was coated in a poison designed to render the victim unconscious.

As they did Ryuk hit the ground hard. Four Horned Hounds moved in to grab him, when
Nightmares tiny in size but carrying grenades rushed from nearby shadows. They exploded and more leapt from the shadows. As the attacks continued there was a veritable wall of shrapnel and concussive force keeping the Horned Hounds back. The Horned Hounds attempted to open an energy bridge but powerful wards had snapped into place the moment the body of Alice Clegg was removed from her resting place. Only enough to prevent all escaping from the dying ship via Energy Bridge. And other places had Close Energy Bridge artificed into the floor and walls.

It took only seconds but those seconds were enough for the prisoner to return the favor of life, “Yelling Escape Escape”, to the remaining Rabble who grabbed their Leftenant and climbed inside.

The Prisoner used his magnavore larva to reach out to the Brain Crab that piloted the shuttle. He plotted a course to Sentinel Station.

Their ship left, and left just in time.

At the other side of Alice Clegg’s Flagship the EEF shuttles left trying to flee from the ship as quick as possible.
On these ships were the allied forces of Commander Shiro, the Uloh Tactical squad, the Lions and the Blackheart Security team. With Le-a’s Red Fist Commandos holding the position, the allied assault team had recovered the body and the Red Fists escaped with them. They along with the Blackheart team left to join the honor guard for bringing the body of Alice Clegg home.
A funeral was forthcoming.
Meanwhile her lover, and her tormentor, T’ronde Vale’s body was left aboard the ship like so much discarded trash.
When the ship finally detonated, it was the only thing of value destroyed aboard the Flagship of Captain Clegg.

But on the surface of Marduk if you looked up at the right moment you would have seen the moment T’ronde Vale become a shooting star.

Week 6 - The Return of the Body of Alice Clegg Empty Re: Week 6 - The Return of the Body of Alice Clegg

The EEF fleet stopped at the cusp on Iron Republic Space. Across from them was a Joint Iron Republic fleet. A single Vespa with Iron Republic flags attached over all Blackheart logos pulled from the EEF fleet and waited between the two ships. A wing of Blackheart Stiletto fighters, a wing of Strykker's Ripper gunpods, a wing of Lions Aegis fighters, and a wing of 5th fleet gunpods broke from the fleet and took up positions as honor guard around the frieghter. When scanned all fighters and the Vespa were unarmed. As they slowly approached the IR fleet a request was made that a wing of Sector General Palomedes fighters lead them to Mars for the burial.

Twilight had set in when the Black Vespa landed. The sun had sunk just under the cusp of the serrated orange mountains on the horizon. The sky was a dark shade of crimson lightening into a fiery shade of orange where it met the jagged rock. The landing pad radiated heat from the day even as the temperature dropped as night approached. The base was dark, and as the red of the sky gave way to the deep blue and then black of night millions of twinkling stars, the true kingdom of man, glimmered down upon all gathered. The large Red flag of the Iron republic hung at half mast. The martian breeze caused the black fist of mars, the banner that was a symbol of the lives of hundreds of billions, to wave almost angrily.

The honor guard fighters had landed around the blackheart ship the pilots and crews gathered in precise military formations facing the procession. Behind the procession thousands of Brethren and Iron republic officers stood rigidly at attention.

Gathered behind the back hatch of the ship were 8 of Sector general Deers elite personal guard with Sector General Deer leading the formation. The Brethrens armor was eerily silent and intimidating, without a single nick or chip of paint missing. They were so perfectly disciplined one would have mistaken them for statues. The procession itself consisted of Sector General Palomedes, son LT Palomedes, a Chaplain Johhassen, and any other Iron Repbulic distinguished guests who wished to view the ceremony.

The hatch slowly lowered, condensation and steam rising from its mechanisms. First the EEF's party of distinguished guests descended. Childeen Blackheart emerged in a black conservatively cut suit. He saluted Sector General Palomedes and gave his condolences, and then shook his sons hand wishing him well, it was obvious the two were previously acquainted.

Inside the dark cavernous bay of the ship a deep voice bellowed. “DETAIL, FORWARD MARCH.”

Field Marshall Strykker emerged his Oni Dress uniform was highly decorated with numerous epaulets, ribbons, and medals. Strykker led the detail of soldiers all in dress uniform. They marched in near perfect step (It was a long flight to Mars, and Field Marshall Strykker would accept nothing less than perfection from his honor guard). 2 EEF Golaiths, hulking masses of muscle dressed in black dress uniforms with silver awards led the descent, followed by two Fighting 5th marines dressed in crisp navy blue dress marine dress uniforms wearing their signature white cap, belt, and gloves. The next two pall bearers were Lions of Earth dressed in high collared dark green dress uniforms with gold trim and awards, finally the last two pall bearers were two earther Uloh tech sergeants dressed in the colors of the UFC. After descending the ramp they marched in place holding the casket a few paces from Sector General Deer's formation.

The casket was a dull reflective gray. Instead of the Iron Republic flag being draped over it the flag was folded and in a frame made of wood from earth on top of the casket the fist of mars filling the Iron Republic brethren and soldiers with a deep sense of pride.

Sector General Palomedes knew it was the flag Alice Clegg had sworn in under, the flag he had sworn her in under. When the EEF and Blackheart were searching the ship they must have found it in her quarters, still perfectly preserved.

As Strykker hoarsely whispered the commands to bring the formation to a halt the eyes of the procession turned to the Chaplain.

Post  TheSectorGeneralDeer Sat Jul 02, 2011 10:12 pm

The Chaplain finished his moving sermon.
Even Sector General Deer had to raise a a hankercheif to his eyes. He stepped up to the podium and said,

"We all got different backgrounds and come from different places. We can't always put ourselves in other peoples shoes. While Alice Clegg did not serve directly under me, she was always upfront and enthusiastic. She had that empathy I lack. She always thought of her soldiers first.

I think we all could be proud of serving alongside or against the brave Captain Clegg."

Sector General Deer sat back down and waited for the next speaker to rise and tell their honored story of the deceased.

Post  F.KalMarx Sat Jul 02, 2011 11:07 pm

Director Kal Marx walked up to the podium next.

"As an Iron Republic Stockholder and member of the Board of Directors I have many people relying on me. When we were minutes away from capturing the horrific Angels of Desolation, the backstabbing WarCriminal Ryuk of TRILAT unleashed the fury of an exploding sun. It killed so many loyal Iron Republic soldiers. Captain Clegg made it her personal mission to track down the terrorist responsible.
She was an unstoppable force of nature. And she will be missed by all who served with her."

Director Kal Marx sat back down after the brief statement.

Finally Sector General Palomedes rose solemnly and walked up to the podium.

"What can I say about Captain Clegg that has not already been said.
Alice put service before all else. She was the type of subordinate who always knew what your orders meant even if the wording was vague. Alice always kept her uniform perfect and expected the same of her subordinates. She ran a tight ship.
The greatest compliment I can give is that Alice Clegg was always in search of love. She loved her soldiers, loved the Iron Republic Starforce, and one day I had hoped she would have that love recipricated.

I have requested that Alice Clegg be forgiven her crimes while under influence of alien parasites.
In the name of Alice Clegg I have gotten permission for a new law, the Alien Influence Prevention Act.
All Iron Republic citizens must report in to have their body scanned for alien larva. If one is found the type is noted and added to their official file. That way if they do any crimes under this influence they will get a different trial than just an execution.

Thank you Alice, we will guarantee that what you suffered never occurs again to anyone else on my watch.

We grant your body to the soil of Mars. May you join the heroes of the Iron Republic in the great beyond. As we place your body beneath the soil we know the four winds will bring your spirit back to us in times of need.

As your commanding officer I vow that I will bring Angel D to justice in your name."

Sector General Palomedes would be lead from the podium as he openly wept by his son Lt. Palomedes.

With the body in the ground the ceremony was over. They would all retire to their own shuttlecraft with the memory of Alice Cleggs potential in their mind, not the monster she had become.
